Tour de Yorkshire | Le Col Cycling

The Tour de Yorkshire is now over and as I travel back I'm reflecting on the weekend and how it went for me and Team One Pro Cycling. The first thing that is at the front of my mind is, what a huge and resounding success this race was, flashes of crowds as we raced around York City centre at an average of 30Mph with people 10 deep around the whole city circuit, layers of people up the castle walls looking down on the spectacular bunch of riders and following cars speeding through the corners and roundabouts towards the finish at the racing ground.

On the last day we tackled some of the toughest roads in the country, climbed and descended the longest continuous descent in the country and raced with the best in the world, big names from Sky, BMC, Lotto Jumbo. Crowds on all the climbs full of passion and enthusiasm to cheer all the riders on as we passed. I personally heard my name shouted many times in encouragement and am grateful and pleased so many people made the trip to get to the circuit.

I am pleased to be part of such an enthusiastic cycling nation, also pleased that we were able to participate in the racing at the highest level and would make a special mention to two UK domestic riders in particular who made the top 10 on GC, Eric Rowsell from team Madison Genesis and Richard Handley team JLT Mavic Condor. Truly gritty performers in exceptional company well done guys. To the rest of my Team One for working so hard on our own performances and being such a special bunch both riders and staff! Thank you! Yanto.
