Le Col Wahoo build on their base for the 2022 season
After a successful training camp in Cambrils back in December, Le Col Wahoo made further steps toward the new season with a second camp in Calpe. The team used this camp to hone in on their preparations for races, such as lead-outs, sprints, and race simulations. It also gave the riders a chance to form even closer relationships and feel comfortable riding as a group so that when they get to racing they have the confidence to succeed.
Not only is it a great for the team to ride together, but also time to focus on the smaller details such as strength and conditioning, stretching, nutrition, and recovery. For every individual in the team, cycling is their passion, but many of the team also work, are full-time students, and there’s an even a mum in the team. Going away on camp is time to focus solely on the sport and gear up a level for the upcoming season.

To guide the team at camp were the two directeur sportifs. Last year, Nico Marche acted as the sole DS, but this year he is joined by former pro-rider for Team DSM, Julia Soek. Spearheaded by these two experienced riders, the team looks to take their knowledge on board and make their first steps towards WorldTour status.
This camp also marked the first time the team were in their new kit. It was put to the test on climbs, descents, and sprints. We’ve been sure to make Le Col Wahoo stand out in the peloton and help them to Colour the Road. The design is a progression from last year’s kit and incorporates new colours to create a striking look. Constructed to make the team go fast, the kit uses high-speed fabrics as well as insight from aerodynamicists and wind tunnel readings. We’re excited to see how it performs in the peloton.
