The stage is set and the teams are ready. Some of these riders will have been waiting their whole careers for a shot at the Tour. Over 33 years had passed since the last Tour de France Femmes and this was the first editions organised by ASO, the organiser of the men’s edition.
It was a great first stage of the Tour for Le Col Wahoo with Maike taking 6th on Stage 1 and claiming the Best Young Rider Jersey which she will start in on Stage 2. Gladys also won the Most Combative Rider prize on today's stage proving the team’s intention to lead on the front foot and colour the road in their typical fashion.
The short and hectic route finished the typical finishing circuit around many of Paris’ landmarks and was fast paced over the cobbled streets. There was many crashes and close misses as each team fought their way to the front over the iconic cobbled road, the Champs Elysees.
