A YEAR IN NUMBERS - LE COL X STRAVA 2020

We put our challenges to you, and you blew us away. Across the globe, participants collectively covered vast distances and put in the effort to better themselves. From the hopeful New Year to Ticking Off 2020, our 11 challenges were platform breaking. Whether keeping active, speeding flat out, or going faster further, you rode to your rhythm and remained consistent. We welcome every cyclist out there striving to be their best and we wanted to recognise your accomplishments as part of the Le Col Community - coming together to achieve the extraordinary.

5,587,402 Participants

Across 11 challenges in 2020, participation remained sky high - everyone was eager to complete the task at hand. This meant that the total number of people taking part in Le Col Challenges was bigger than the population of Scotland.

68,075,165 ACTIVITIES

We worked out that the average distance completed for each activity recorded was close to 23km. This is astonishing given that the challenge could be completed in many different forms from cycling to running to stand-up paddle boarding. Lockdown also saw the number of virtual activities soar higher than ever before, especially in comparison to the challenges at the beginning of the year.

4,942,620 COMPLETERS

A staggering 90% completion rate hinted that everyone was keen to finish the task in hand. Big kudos to all of those that completed each and every challenge too…that is an even bigger feat in itself!

1.5 billion km Total Distance

Over the course of the year, participants in our challenges covered an astronomical distance. From earth, we collectively hopped two planets, and made it as far as Saturn in just 33 weeks – the same time spacecraft take to get to Mars.

225 MILLION HOURS

Accounting for 25,865 years of human effort in just 33 weeks. Go back that far in time, and you’d be just about to enter the last ice age.
