An Olympic cycling preview with Victoria Pendleton

As a long-time Le Col ambassador, I'm thrilled to preview the upcoming Olympic cycling events in Paris this summer. Here's an overview of what's in store:

Road Race
Men Aug 3 / Women Aug 4, 2024

The Olympic road race is a prestigious and grueling event that covers a challenging course designed to test the endurance and skill of the riders. The men’s and women’s races will navigate the scenic yet demanding routes through the heart of Paris, featuring steep climbs, technical descents, and iconic landmarks. The road race is a true test of strategy, teamwork, and sheer physical prowess.

Time Trial
July 27 2024

The time trial is often referred to as the "race of truth." In this event, riders set off at regular intervals, racing against the clock on a course that demands both power and precision. Unlike the road race, there’s no drafting or team tactics; it’s just the rider against the clock. The time trial emphasises pure individual performance, making it one of the most exciting and nerve-wracking events to watch.

Track
Aug 5 - 11 2024

As someone who has spent a significant part of my career on the track, I’m particularly excited for my favourite and most successful track cycling events. The Sprint and Keirin events hold a special place in my heart. The Sprint (Women Aug 11th & Men Aug 9th 2024), a cat-and-mouse tactical race, requires explosive speed and precise timing, while the Keirin (Women Aug 8th & Men Aug 11th, 2024), with its thrilling motor-paced start and dramatic sprint finish, demands both strategy and raw power. These events have brought me some of my greatest successes and fondest memories.

I hope this gives you a taste of the excitement to come in Paris. The cycling events are sure to be a highlight of the summer, bringing together the global cycling community to celebrate the pinnacle of our sport.

Warm regards
