A successful season begins with perfect preparation. The long hours in the saddle, the off-the-bike conditioning and the nutritional sacrifices. As the new year dawned, the BORA – hansgrohe team gathered in Mallorca to complete their groundwork for the 2022 season.

Training camp is the perfect opportunity for riders to meet for the first time, or catch up after a couple of months off over winter. 2022 is the first season Le Col will be supplying kit to the riders of BORA – hansgrohe, so Mallorca presented the perfect opportunity to make sure everything fitted and was up to scratch. A rider performs at their best when they are comfortable, and we take pride in providing high-performance cycling apparel that can keep up with the rigours of the most elite bike racers in the world.

Days were filled with riding, bonding and training of specific techniques and disciplines. Sprint trains, for example, do not magically form on the day of a race. Instead, they are carefully honed formations, with each rider given a specific role to play.

The riders tested their legs on some of the lesser-known climbs of the Spanish isle. Although not quite as difficult as those they'll face in the Grand Tours, peaks like the Puig de Randa in the centre of Mallorca – which averages 6.1% for 5.5km with a maximum gradient of 18% – provide the team with tempo simulations. On the south-west side of the island, the team ascended to the Sanctuary of San Salvador, a sleepy ‘road-to-nowhere’ climb that offers a perfect place to get the efforts done.

Le Col is proud to be supplying the kit for BORA – hansgrohe’s upcoming season, and excited about what these athletes can achieve on the road.
